  • How can I join the London Clarion Cycle Club and what are the benefits of membership?
    Joining the London Clarion Cycle Club is a fantastic way to enhance your cycling experience and become part of a historic and vibrant community! We use Membership Mojo, a trusted platform utilized by clubs, associations, and charities across the UK, to manage our memberships efficiently. As a member, you'll enjoy numerous benefits including access to our regular leisure rides and occasional weekends away, allowing you to explore scenic routes and build camaraderie with fellow cycling enthusiasts. Our club, founded in 1895, is deeply rooted in cycling tradition, and we aim to make every ride enjoyable and memorable. Membership also provides opportunities to participate in special events, receive updates on club activities, and connect with a supportive community of cyclists. Whether you're a seasoned rider or just starting out, the London Clarion Cycle Club offers something for everyone. Join us today!
  • Do you do new member introductory rides?
    No not currently, once you join London Clarion cycling club, you will receive an invitation to join our Spond group where all upcoming rides are posted. You will soon find a ride that matches your skill level and you can sign up for it. If you can ride a minimum of 20 miles at an average 12mph, you will have no problem keeping up with the group.
  • Where do rides start?
    Ride start locations vary depending on the destination and are communicated to members via the Spond app, our ride and event management platform. We sometimes organise train-assisted rides, in which case the meeting point will be a designated train station. Recent start locations have included: Servewell Cafe, Bermondsey Black Sheep Coffee by St Pauls Trafalgar Square Greenwich Foot Tunnel Putney Bridge Hampton Court Railway Station Crystal Palace Clapham Common Ladywell, Lewisham
  • How many members are there in London Clarion Cycle Club?
    London Clarion Cycle Club proudly boasts a vibrant community of over 200 members!
  • What sort of cycling activities does London Clarion Cycle Club offer?
    The London Clarion Cycle Club organizes regular weekend rides, occasional weekend trips, and an annual cycling tour to France or another European destination.
  • Can I join a ride for free?
    Trial rides are currently unavailable unless you're a guest of an existing London Clarion Cycle Club member.
  • What are the London Clarion Cycle Club Membership Fees for 2025
    For 2025 we offer two membership options: London Clarion Cycle Club + National Clarion Cycling Club: £25 Includes membership of both clubs. Includes third party liability insurance. Membership runs from January 1st to December 31st. Members who join after September 1st will receive membership for the following year as well. London Clarion Cycle Club Only: £15 For cyclists who already have third-party liability insurance through organizations like Cycling UK or the London Cycling Campaign. Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of joining.
  • Am I fit enough to join London Clarion Cycle Club?
    Absolutely! London Clarion Cycle Club welcomes cyclists of all fitness levels. Whether you are a seasoned rider or just starting out, our club provides a supportive environment where you can enjoy cycling at your own pace. All we ask isthat as a minimum you should be able to ride at an average 12mph or 19kph. You must have serviceable bike with good brakes and be able to ride a minimum of 20 miles. We organise regular leisure rides which are designed to accommodate a range of abilities, and our experienced members are always on hand to offer guidance and encouragement. Additionally, our occasional weekends away offer a fantastic opportunity to build your fitness in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Joining London Clarion Cycle Club is not about competing but about enjoying the journey and the community. So, regardless of your current fitness level, you are more than welcome to ride with us!
  • Where is the London Clarion Cycle Club based?
    The London Clarion Cycle Club is a London-wide club with members throughout the city. With over 200 members, you're sure to find fellow cyclists near you!
  • How fast are club rides?
    On London Clarion Cycle Club rides we average between 10 and 12mph so a relaxed pace.
  • Who are the current members?
    The London Clarion Cycle Club is a welcoming and diverse community of over 200 cyclists, ranging in age from 20 to 80. Our members include regular riders and those who join us less frequently. We cater to a variety of riding styles, from those who enjoy a social pace to those who prefer a faster, more challenging ride. Currently, 30% of our membership is female and we are an LGBTQ+ friendly cycling club.
  • How do you keep in touch with London Clarion Cyclists?
    We use several channels to keep in touch with London Clarion cyclists: Spond: Our primary platform for organising rides and events. WhatsApp: Active member-only groups for informal communication and ride coordination. Facebook: Public and private groups for sharing information and connecting with other members. Email Newsletter: A monthly newsletter keeping members updated on club news and activities. Website: Provides basic information on some club rides.
  • Do you do anything else other than ride bikes?
    Yes, we certainly do! Please keep an eye on our club Spond group and email updates. We organise weekends away as well as adhoc social catch ups.
